Ina Schotzko: the young traveler comes back

In an interview of about 20 minutes, we could learn more in depth to Ina Schotzko, exchange student who came from Austria to our tenth grade E. Showing great kindness and willingness, Ina answered our questions about her life in Chile and its origin country.

Without knowing anything about our country and our language she came to Chile in August last year. On her arrival in our country she had an orientation in Santiago, consisted of a presentation on the characteristics and customs, the people and several legal issues, related laws to be enforced and respected in Chile and after that she came to Chillán.

Among her hobbies she mentioned sports, dancing, going out with friends, reading, music and drawing.

While the interview was conducted, she attracted most attention because she had a very good level of Spanish acquired in these eight months, even to use Chilean idioms, and good pronunciation of the letter "r", hardly pronounced in her language.

R: How do you evaluate the Chilean educational system compared to Austria?

I: It's very different. In Austria classes are held in an atmosphere of attention and concentration; Chilean students are more relaxed. Moreover, classes are longer here.

Ina speaks fluent German, her native language, and English. Besides, she also speaks Spanish, Latin and French.

The recommendations that she gives us are to travel, carrying only what it is necessary, because you can buy in the country you travel.

The young traveler returns her home in June to reunite with her family and friends after about 1 year away from them.

R: Do you want or plan to return to Chile?

I: Yes, I'd go back, I have the idea of going on holiday with my family for a while and visit more places of this beautiful country.
