Hong Yi is an artist and architectural designer born in Malaysian. she is known by her artistic name “Red”, she uses weird materials to do her paintings and art installations. She is the type of artist that 'paints without a paintbrush'.
She became better known by her different types of coffee portraits.
She studied at the University of Melbourne and moved to Shanghai. There she began paying attention to the athletes, artists and other celebrities that captivated Chinese people. “Living here is such a different experience,” she said for The Wall Street Journal magazine, “I wanted to explore the cultural elements.”
She also likes to share her process “I am not afraid to share my work and its process. I have even posted my unfinished works, and get reactions from those who logged in to see the videos. I get to interact with the people and I appreciate every comment and feedback from the people,” she said for different magazines.
