Music talk

Nowadays, we consume a lot of music, but, where does it come from? In this little section I would like to talk about the history of the music. Today I will talk about the 90s, a time when the sound of the music would be very important to define the modern music of these days.

Let 's visit Great Britain in those days. Let 's imagine an era when the north american movement called Grunge was very popular, when the music sound like Nirvana or Pearl Jam and music with distorted guitars and noisy drums was common.

So, while we had this, in Great Britain emerged other movement called Britpop.

If we think about this we can realize that the british Britpop was a way to stop the american Grunge.

A lot of British bands appeared, two icons were Blur and Oasis.

Why I name these bands? Because there was a war between those bands… The Battle Of The Britpop.

What was this battle? Just a title that was given to the sales dispute between these bands… but there was another important fact. Oasis was a band formed in Manchester, in the north of England, in an environment of working class. However, Blur were from London, in the south of England, in an environment of upper middle class. So, there was a social dispute too.

In terms of popularity Oasis were overall winners, Blur were not able to cross frontiers because of their British sound.

Actually, Oasis are separated.

Blur released a new album this year called “The Magic Whip” and they are promoting the album in their world tour. They have a scheduled concert in Santiago in October 7th and tickets still available
