Strange diseases: Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP)

Disease that transforms muscles, tendons and ligaments to bones after an inflammation; It can be produced by a blow, injection or fatigue.


Children have a normal appearance when they born, except for some congenital malformations in the big toes.


Not exist a definitive treatment, but many people take some preventions, wear a helmet, some home security and treatments for respiratory impairment.


People who have FOP live around 40 years. In the last decade the people use a wheelchair, and the most common cause of death is thoracic insufficiency syndrome.
